Welcome to my campaign's new home on the Web! My goal is to keep you informed about where I stand on the issues and to provide a fun and interactive way to keep up with the campaign.

I've been honored to serve the good folks of Buncombe County as Chairman of the County Commission, and I've done my best to protect the rights and the pocketbooks of the average citizen: to provide balance, common sense, and fiscal restraint in what are proving increasingly difficult economic times for most of us.

I've always tried to look out for ordinary folks and make my decisions based on what are in the best interests of the county.

I'm proud of the fact that I've never let partisan differences interfere with solving our community's problems. For the past eight years, I've served with four county commissioners from a different political party...but that's never stopped me from reaching across the aisle in the spirit of cooperation. I sincerely believe that only by working together will we get things done.

I'm also proud of the fact that I'm a straight shooter, unlike some other folks we know. Some politicians are slick, double-talking lawyers. I'm not. I'll never say one thing and do another... or tell you what you want to hear just to get elected. What you see is what you get --- and I'm looking forward to a spirited campaign that will focus on the needs of the average, hard-working citizens of Buncombe County.
